I believe everybody is created for a purpose, uniquely shaped and woven together for adventure. We are driven to learn and explore, to embrace the past, to enjoy the present, to create the future. Teaching is a tool which shapes and grows us, knowledge is the light upon the path, and learning is the key to unlock our destiny.

I believe my purpose is to teach and share knowledge in ways that stir curiosity and motivates learners. Students are all individuals who have different needs and learn in different ways, which I acknowledge and respect (Fraser, 2008).  Trust, patience and encouragement are vital to nurture and shape young learners. I believe that giving my time and being compassionate and understanding are essential for growth and development in students. Allowing learners the flexibility and space for expression, to have their say and to some extent do it their way is all part of the learning and growing experience. Encouraging student input, exploring different perspectives and valuing their feedback is important to create a motivating and passionate educational experience (Ministry of Education, 2007). Learning is an experience and teaching is a privilege.

I am committed to provide a classroom environment which is safe, fun and creative, allowing young learners to risk and explore without the fear of failure. Creating an inclusive classroom culture which celebrates our differences and fosters our similarities. (Fraser, 2008)

I believe student’s learn through play and adventurous discoveries. My students will get their hands dirty, feel the rain on their skin, breath in the fresh air, smell the flowers, hear the sounds of nature and walk with a sense of wonder. I promise to make them smile, giggle and create a sense of joy every day. I promise to always let them be who they were created to be.

It all starts here...
My teaching philosophy

The pictures of the seedling represents growth, life and purpose. It also represents a child discovering something new, while getting their hands 'dirty'.

The picture above embodies learning as being fun and creative
